Jesus of Nazareth was human
vs. 22
Jesus of Nazareth was fully human ... like we are!
We need a Savior who is like us†
— who knows us as a fellow mortal and not just as the All-knowing God.†
Yet Jesus lived a spotless life†
and so can not only sympathize with us, He can help us!†
In times of trouble, we we need someone who has been there and dealt with our kind of problems.†
If God is too high and holy to deal with our messes, then the doubt inside us leads us to wonder if He really understands us.†
The Bible reminds us that God cares about us and comes to us even in the middle of our difficulties and messes.†
This is what God said about Himself centuries ago:
The high and lofty one who inhabits eternity, the Holy One, says this: "I live in that high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I refresh the humble and give new courage to those with repentant hearts."
(Isaiah 57:15)
Jesus became human†
so we could be confident He is there to help us in our time of need because He understands us. We can trust that He is at God's side,†
communicating our deepest needs as one who has been tempted, abandoned, betrayed, tired, hungry, thirsty, angry, and facing death.†
We can go to Him and trust that He will convey the deepest longings of our heart to the Father.†
