→ God Raised Jesus from the Dead vs. 24-32
Jesus'
resurrection forever changes how we see His crucifixion!
Thousands
of Jews were hung on Roman crosses; Jesus' resurrection three
days later is the great reminder that The Passion is about so
much more than a gruesome death for our sins. Jesus' resurrection
means that His death not only brings forgiveness; it also brings
new life ... life that cannot be taken from us. Jesus' followers
trusted that the power that raised Jesus from the dead was real
and that their lives could be joined to Jesus' resurrected life.
While
Jesus' sacrificial death for our sins shows us God's love, Jesus'
resurrection from the dead demonstrates God's power. This same
power is available to us to help transform us. Our lives do not
have to be enslaved to the past. We don't have to live in emotional
or spiritual death. The God who raised Jesus from dead can also
give us life. In fact, when we become Christians, we are made
into new people. Even more than being new, our lives are not lived
in vain because of Jesus' resurrection. We no longer have to be
slaves to our fear of death. We are not shackled to our sinful
past!
Believing
in the resurrection was crucial to the good news that was taught
about Jesus. That is why there is so said about the resurrection.
But once our faith confidently rests in Jesus' resurrection, then
we can be sure He will raise us, and all who share this same hope,
as well! |
