Added to Jesus' Followers by God!

When people respond obediently in faith to the message about Jesus, God does something wonderful! He adds them to the number of those who are saved! They aren't voted in. They aren't put on probation to see if they will live up to their new commitment. They aren't required to go through a waiting period, orientation session, or training class. When they become followers of Jesus, they are added to folks God says are the saved! In fact, this passage emphasizes that their "souls," the part of us that eternal and living, are added to the number God views as the saved.

When we become a follow of Jesus, our life is joined to His. His future becomes our future: His future glory will be our future glory. No one and no power can separate us from God's love for us that we have in Christ Jesus. We are God's children that He loves and declares to be full heirs of all the blessings of Heaven!

More than just being a member of a group, club, or organization, we are actually part of Jesus' Body, the living presence of Jesus in the world today. We are given special abilities, or gifts, to use to bless other parts of the Body and honor God. We are vital to the proper functioning of the Body of Christ. Our presence, our being a part of the Body, is crucial for the whole Body to do its work and become all that we are intended to be ... the presence of Jesus in the world today.
